Whitney Houston has never sung a song titled, I’m Gonna Sing and Shout. But that’s exactly what she did when she was alive. She did sing and shout. Whitney has sung as if she were singing out loud to the back row of an audience. Her voice did travel. She had a lot of power in her singing, and that’s how I was inspired to make the illustration for today’s SoReal strip. ...
Listen to Whitney’s Gospel song, “He Can Use Me”. It’s very beautiful. I remember Whitney saying that she wanted to live in an interview with Diane Sawyer, if I’m not mistaken, and I believe she did want to live. We needed to be around Whitney to know fully how she really was and what was going on in her life. We don’t see the whole picture just seeing a person as a superstar. I never heard this song before. Whitney had to be singing from the heart to sound so great.
I believe Whitney Houston was blessed in her career by God. She didn’t sing explicit songs, and I don’t think it was in her heart to lead people wrong. Whitney sang earthly love songs and she sang the gospel. None of the music is perfect here on earth. I think Whitney did the best she could and God saw it if she did. She respected God in her music. Someone will always try to find something to put you down. Whitney had so many problems while she had the victory in music. She was trying to make a living.
I believe Whitney had victory in Jesus too. There is one thing about it. She knew about God. She might not didn’t know everything about him, but she knew something about him.
When I hear the song Victory by Yolanda Adams, I have Whitney on my mind.
Leolah Brown talks about what happened to Whitney Houston as a little girl. It’s a very sad story. I don’t believe everything people say, but because Leolah knew Whitney, I listen. She is an in-law to Whitney. I’m sure that a lot of bad things were done to Whitney because she often looked troubled. I believe Leolah when she said bad things were done to her, and the media always blamed it all on drugs.
We’ve all looked at lyrics as just poetry or a song. I don’t remember ever being affected by a song in a bad way. I knew the Lord. I didn’t let words and ideas take over me. During the time when Chaka Khan sang I’m Every Woman, no one said anything about a song being demonic. Now the word demonic is used so much. When Whitney Houston died, Chaka Khan mentioned the word. Even the hand signs people use are now demonic. Everything is demonic, and if you know and love the Lord, you might not let that bother you. However we do need to be careful because the world is full of evil now more than ever.
In the video, Nick Jones shared some thoughts on Cece Winans belief about a song she thought was demonic when Whitney Houston asked her to participate.
….. Once Whitney learned all that she was suppose to do in singing, she became the best singer ever. Music & singing became her career. She had a powerful voice and her words were clear & understood. I always thought: Whitney is music & music is Whitney. If you take the music away you can hear music in her voice. Whitney could sing without & she had the perfect vibrato. …
